Description

The Condor’s Viewpoint is located at 3400 meters above sea level in the high Andean community of Chonta in the district of Limatambo, province of Anta, Cusco. It is emerging as a novel tourist destination in Cusco.

You can enjoy an innovative route that includes nature, archaeological sites, landscapes, and the majestic flight of the Andean Condor in its natural habitat in the impressive Apurimac Canyon.

The condor is an endemic bird of the southern Andes that represents the upper world. It is one of the largest birds in the world and plays an important role in the food chain.

The trip to the Condor’s Viewpoint or Chonta viewpoint is one of the most spectacular nature tours you can do in Cuzco, complemented by the attractions of Tarawasi, Killarumiyoc, and the opportunity to enjoy the flora, fauna, and the land of avocados and custard apples. It is away from large tourist groups and recommended for birdwatchers.

Tour Plan

06:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco.
Security protocol check.
Hotel pick-up and the start of your journey from the city of Cusco.
Transfer to the town of Huarocondo.
Continuation of the route to the town of Limatambo.
During the journey, we will visit the archaeological sites of Killarumiyoq & Tarawasi.
Once in Limatambo, we will make a brief stop for the use of restrooms and some last-minute purchases by the traveler (snacks, water, etc.). After a 3.00-hour journey from Cusco, we arrive at the high Andean town of Chonta.
During the journey, we will appreciate the daily life of the local residents, crops, and the imposing snow-capped peak of Salcantay.
We will begin the hike to the Condor’s Viewpoint for approximately 1 to 1.30 hours.
We will have an average of 2 hours to observe and witness the majestic flight of this bird with the impressive landscape carved by the Apurímac River in the background.
After the visit, we will return to Limatambo and then to Cusco. During the journey, we will enjoy our lunch or box lunch.
Once in Cusco, transfer to your hotel.
